Volunteer and staff at Pretty Pony Pastures

Staff Opportunities

We serve the Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Youth Groups by provided horse-related activities for them. Daisy scouts are required to be on lead-line. Older riders are not, but we still provide one or two spotters in the arena for the riders. While one group is riding, other groups are working with our volunteers at stations located in the barn.

If you are interested in staffing the scout troops, Test Ride a Ponysm, or summer Hooked on Horsessm activities, your duties may be leading or spotting a horse in the arena, or working at a station teaching the scouts how to groom a horse, the differences between English and Western tack, what horses eat - including making a treat, parts of the horse, or one of a dozen or so topics that relate to horses and their care. We provide the lesson plan and equipment, if needed.

Staff must be at least 16 years old and have some horse experience. Volunteers often move to staff positions once they are familiar with our horses and the information that needs to be presented.
