Junior Girl Scouts earning their badge at Pretty Pony Pastures

Junior Scouts

We offer two 2-hour programs for Junior Scouts. Horseback Riding and Hands on Harses. Horseback Riding is the new Girl Scout badge for Junior Scouts.

Hands on Horses comes from Sycamore Hills Girl Scout Council in Tennessee. The girls will receive a badge for both Horseback Riding and Hands on Horses.

 

Horseback Riding

For this badge, the topics include:

  • Learn safety and horse care
  • Difference between English and Western tack
  • How to prepare for a ride
  • Posture and form for riding
  • Have a riding lesson

 

Hands on Horses

This session is designed for Juniors who want more horse activities. The topics are:

  • Safety first
  • Starts with a "G"
  • Saddle Up
  • Riding High
  • Hit the Trail Class

 

 

The cost of this program is $25 per rider. The minimum number of riders for a session is six.

A deposit of $50.00 is required to hold your date. For more information or to schedule your troop, contact us by email or call 248.634.7276.

 

Scout groups can be scheduled throughout the year on Saturday or Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm or 4:00 pm. and on weekday mornings or afternoons during the summer. We can accomodate troops of up to 16 riders at 2:00 pm. Troops with more than 16 riders are asked to sign up at 4:00 pm.

How to dress -
Riders are expected to wear long pants and a boot with a small, 1/2" heel.
 
Leaders, parents, and other guests should dress for the weather AND wear sneakers or boots.
 
Helmets are provided. Riders may use their own ASTM/SEI certified helmets. Bicycle, roller blading, or other sport helmets are not acceptable.

 

Participants must have a Liabilty Release form on file to participate in this event.
