Cadette Scouts

 

Both of these two-hour badges were designed by Sycamore Hills Girl Scout Council in Tennessee. Still hands-on, these activities take on a more intense look at the care and management of horses.

Your troop can choose the Discovery: Horses or Trail Rider. If there is a specific topic your troop is interested in, we can work to accomodate your request

 

 

Discovery: Horses

The topics for this session are:

  • Your approach
  • Recognizing illness
  • Careers with horses
  • Saddle time
  • Fun and games on horseback

 

Trail Rider

The topics for this session are:

  • Handling 1000 pounds
  • Chuck Wagon
  • Trail Tie
  • Mount up!
  • In the saddle - riding

 

The cost of this program is $25 per rider.

The minimum number of riders for a session is six. We can accomodate troops of up to 16 riders at 2:00 pm. Troops with more than 16 riders are asked to sign up at 4:00 pm.

A deposit of $50.00 is required to hold your date. For more information or to schedule your troop, we can be contacted by email or call 248.634.7276.

 

Scout groups can be scheduled throughout the year on Saturday or Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm or 4:00 pm. and on weekday mornings or afternoons during the summer.

How to dress -
Riders are expected to wear long pants and a boot with a small, 1/2" heel.
 
Leaders, parents, and other guests should dress for the weather AND wear sneakers or boots.
 
Helmets are provided. Riders may use their own ASTM/SEI certified helmets. Bicycle, roller blading, or other sport helmets are not acceptable.

 

Participants must have a Liabilty Release form on file to participate in this event.
